Cora is the filly of Blue Belle. Blue came to the pack station in June 2009 as a rescue from one of the BLM Roundups. At the time we purchased her, there was no indication that she was pregnant. But the gestation for donkeys is 12 months, so it is likely that Blue conceived when she was mixed with the BLM herd. Cora was born exaclty one year after Blue Belle arrived at Adams' Pack Station
Deb and Paul have been working with Blue, but it takes a lot longer to get a wild donkey packing than it does a donkey born into captivity. Cora should practicing as soon as she can leave her mother for short periods.
Cora is named for an old time packer from Sierra Madre, CA named Cora Corum. Her pack station was not too far from ours and she packed the same trails. Cora took over the family packing business after her husband, Bill, passed away in the 1930's.
