Jessie came to the pack station in 2008 as a rescue from one of the BLM Roundups. He and Molly were trailered by Brad and Deb from Northern California and as a result of this "pair-bonding" the two of them share a stall to eat and stick together most of the time. Jessie has lots of personality and is a bit of a brat at times. He did kick a little bit for the first couple of weeks but he has settled down and will now approach people if they are calm and still, and he is easy enough to catch.
Deb got Jessie going right away in the pack string. He is not old enough to carry a load yet, but we didn't want him to become spoiled like what happened to Andy & Eeyore. This can be difficult, and at times dangerous, with the young ones since they want to run and play instead of politely follow in line, but they always come around in time.
Jessie was so named in keeping with the Old West theme (a la Jessie James).
