Margaret was adopted out of Sierra Madre when she was just ten weeks old. She is a pack station kitty through and through. Kim Kelley, former pack station owner, saw a flyer at a local coffee shop asking for takers on two kittens; one boy, one girl. The photo on the flyer had the boy wearing a blue bow and the girl wearing a pink bow. Kim made a phone call to Greg and asked if he would like a kitty for the bunkhouse, her own house being quite full of kittys. Greg was pleased and the girl kitty arrived at the pack station about an hour later.

At that time there was no cat door at the bunkhouse, so Greg kept Margaret inside, protected from hawks and owls and anything else inclined to nibble on a kitten. She made herself at home and slept on Greg's pillow, curled-up in his hair. But Margaret was not born to be a homebody. In fact, she is quite the tomboy. She has a large range for such a small cat, and is often seen in the picnic grounds visiting with strangers and getting her dirt all over them.

During "the transition" Kim's ownership of the pack station and that of the Burgesses, Greg lived in cabin #25 for a few months. Margaret came along. She decided it was safer to stay inside, but she would go for walks along the creek with Greg and Sarge.

She was named by Kim Kelley, who thought the nickname Maggie would be cute, but she just looks like a Margaret and that's what she has always been called.
