Thing has been with the Adams family for a long time. Before we got into the outfitting business, he was part of the original crew in the mortuary business. They made a reality television show about their lives; perhaps you've seen it.
Around the pack station, Thing is quite handy. He helps with all kinds of manual labor and never makes waves. He really is our lifeline. He is not terribly observant, but overall, as a ranch hand, we give him a big "thumbs up."
Thing is not much of a conversationalist. Some people confuse this for being a knucklehead or calloused, and they try to put him in a box, but he is more complex than it appears. Plus he is shy, so don't be surprised if he avoids eye contact, but sometimes you can get him to communicate mano a mano. Once you get to know him, he'll have you eating out of the palm of his hand. Thing appreciates a pat on the back, so come on up and shake his hand.
